Chateau Lafite Rothschild, located in the Pauillac area, is a Premier Grand Cru Classe - First Growth*, as long as Chateau Margaux, Chateau Latour, Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Chateau Haut-Brion.
The Chateau’s name comes from the family de la Fite, owner of the estate during the XVIII^th century. In 1868, the baron James de Rothschild acquired the estate, being named then Lafite Rothschild.
The Great Wine of Chateau Lafite Rothschild is world widely one of the most prestigious & famous. The mythical vintage years are 1921, 1945, 2000 and 2005.
Also, Chateau Lafite Rothschild produces a second wine named Carruades de Lafite.
