Chateau Palmer, located in Issan, Margaux area, is a Troisieme Grand Cru Classe – Third Growth* along with 10 others.
During the XVIIIth century, the estate’s name is Domaine de Gasq and produces famous wines, tasted at the royal court of Versailles.
The estate has been sold in 1814 to the General Palmer, thereby taking his name.
Chateau Palmer produces a fine, elegant and soft wine, thanks to its major part of Merlot.
Hence, Chateau Palmer wines are quite different from its neighbour’s in the Margaux area.
Palmer also produces a second wine named Alter Ego, a white wine named Chateau Palmer Blanc, but also a table wine (non vintage), a mix of Palmer wines emphasized with 15% of Northern Côte du Rhône wines (Hermitage). Its name is Historical XIXth Century Wine, based on an ancient tradition consisting of assembling Bordeaux wines with a little part of wines produced in the North of Côtes du Rhône area.
* Historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
