Chateau Latour, located in the Pauillac area, is a Premier Grand Cru Classe - First Growth*, as long as Chateau Margaux, Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Chateau Haut-Brion.
The Chateau name comes from the Saint-Maubert tower, built during the XIVth century. That is the one we may see on the Chateau Latour’s Great Wine label. Destroyed during The Hundred Years’ War, a dovecote has been built during the XVIIth century, taking place then of the ancient tower. That so notorious dovecote appears on the third wine label of the Chateau.
The Great Wine of Chateau Latour is world widely one of the most prestigious & famous. The mythical vintage years are 1945, 1959, 1961, 1982, 1990, 1996, 2000 and 2005.
Also, Chateau Latour produces a second wine named Les Forts de Latour, and a third wine : Pauillac.
